Malham Cove Limestone Pavement
On top of Malham Cove a large limestone pavement can be seen. This is made
up of hundreds of large limestone blocks called clints which are separated
by cracks called grykes. These were formed by rainwater chemically eroding
and widening the joints in the limestone and sometimes the underlying bedding
planes.
