On Friday, 10th October, Woodhey School came together to celebrate World Mental Health Day, showing incredible support for mental health awareness and raising an amazing £1,002.82 for Young Minds through the #HelloYellow campaign.

Throughout the week, students took part in a range of activities designed to help them better understand mental health and learn positive coping strategies. In their PSHE lessons, pupils explored the importance of looking after their emotional wellbeing, recognising when they might need support, and discovering practical ways to manage stress and anxiety.

The school community united for a #HelloYellow non-uniform day, brightening the corridors with cheerful yellow clothing and accessories to show solidarity with those struggling with their mental health. The atmosphere across school was filled with positivity, kindness, and encouragement as everyone came together for such an important cause.

Woodhey staff also played a key role in promoting the message of mental health awareness. Teachers and support staff shared personal tips and advice with students about how they maintain their own wellbeing—whether through exercise, mindfulness, spending time outdoors, or talking with friends and family.

Assitant Headteacher, Adam Downing, said:

“We’re so proud of our students and staff for their enthusiasm and compassion. Raising over £1,000 for Young Minds is an incredible achievement and shows the strength of our school community. Together, we’ve helped spread the message that it’s okay not to be okay—and that support is always available.”

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, and helped make this year’s World Mental Health Day such a meaningful and inspiring success!
